Fumane in Valpolicella is the “Valley of many cellars”, a few steps from Verona where the vines from which fine wines such as Amarone and Ripasso are grown

Valpolicella, the other love of Verona

Ours is a particularly fertile and generous territory, that between Verona and Lake Garda, between the municipalities of Negrar, San Pietro in Cariano, Fumane, and Sant’Ambrogio, shaped by rivers, rich in orchards and since ancient times famous for the cellars. And it is precisely these characteristics that have earned it the name of Valpolicella: it does not matter whether the etymology is Vallis-polis-cellae (the valley with many wineries) or polyzelos (rich in fruit) or pullus (an area rich in river vegetation). What matters is that the tradition of vine cultivation has actually developed here since ancient times, perpetuated in more recent times by the history of Verona, who had their country estates in these lands, enriched by villas, churches, and parish churches designed by a sixteenth-century architect, such as Andrea Palladio. Over the centuries, however, this territory of ours has also gone through difficult times: 1880, for example, when downy mildew hit our vines; and later the Second World War, with its dramas and its destructions. But we of Valpolicella have always known how to give our territory economic momentum, starting from our wine.

A top production

The current production and enhancement of Valpolicella Classico Ripasso wines (Valpolicella Superiore, Amarone, Recioto, and various IGTs) began in the 1950s.

For us at Cantina Crosarola to establish ourselves among many already famous names and finding our space was not easy, even if we knew we had a product that had nothing to envy to the best local productions and that could compete head-on at all tasting counters.

Precisely for this reason, we have chosen a “global” strategy: we have invested in foreign markets, we have made ourselves known and appreciated. In our bottles, in addition to quality, you can taste the flavors of our history, our culture, and our commitment to offer the world a product with unique and superior characteristics, with all the pride of belonging to a region that has made excellence a goal and a quality mark.
